I'm definitely not saying it was not worth it. I was just pointing out the fallout from that deal. However, if the 'Skins were on the cusp of a Super Bowl, I could see them justifying trading multiple picks for a veteran player to get over the hump...doing it for a rookie QB...not so much.

i was shocked when I heard THREE first round picks. Jesus, next years first and this years second would have been rich enough. But drafting a rookie QB for a coach that has shown no ability to develop young players and spending your best shot at surrounding him with skill position players to do it? Snyder is crazy.

when you draft a young qb, you almost have to spend high picks to get skill position guys around him that he can develop with.

I agree but to give up that much is ridiculous in my opinion. They weren't in a position to get the franchise QB, They had to reach and give up their next 3 first round picks as well as their second this year. Like I said if he doesn't pan out. (I really hope he does) they are fucked because they won't have any real options to improve the team through the draft until 2015. Why not take a shot at Flynn and pick up a WR or improve their secondary with that pick. All I'm trying to say is this is a huge risk in my eyes.

The next two years they give up their first. It's not a horrible move. So they'll have to scout well and pick up guys starting in the 2nd in 2013 and 2014.

I wouldn't say he has shown no ability. Griese and Plummer had the best years of their careers under Shanny. He developed Cutler into exactly the type of QB he wanted. It's not like Beck will do any better anywhere else. He doesn't exactly have a history of QB busts either. I think you're selling him a bit short.

The last part of that is absolutely not true. Like a QB has never had success without a plethora of first round picks on his offense. Even without the 2 first rounders in '13 and '14, they still have 2nd and 3rd round picks. Plus it's not like this is the Colts team where you have injury proned Collie and Blair White as your WR's and Brody Elridge (who?) at TE currently penciled in as your starters. They have Moss, Gaffney, and Fred Davis and I'm sure they'll add some more players.

Soooo go sign a WR in FA... there are plenty of good ones. Or you could draft one at some point.. the depth at that position is the best its been in a long time.

As for a RB, Helu looked good.. I wouldn't write him off yet.

Basically the Redskins really moved a 2nd this year and 2 future 1st's.. if Griffin pans out to be a franchise type of QB, thats a very cheap price to pay for a 22 year old with his skill set.

the thing is Shanahan needs to stop thinking he can run that NFC West BS in the NFC East. this has been on of the most physical and competitive divisions for many years. the Bronco style offense will NOT work in the NFC East....

Mario Williams has no fit on this team. Both Kerrigan and Orakpo are not inside backers in a 3-4, and neither is Williams. He would be mis-cast in that role. Thankfully, our defense in the front seven is damn good- we just need to really improve the secondary.

It needs to start with Nicks or Grubbs. The line would come together nicely with either of them at left guard.
