The long passes down field are more difficult to complete. How can you question that one either?

While I voted for Brees I can't help but be super impressed with AR.. IMO,
I'd split the vote and have a tie for MVP, it wouldn't be the first time that
was done.. Both are just plain sick this year.. Everytime I see Brees play I
can't believe he's a Saint, and everytime I see or hear about Rodgers I can't
believe that McCarthy was the Saints former OC before Payton took over.

Both QB's= incredible!

I really don't care who wins the MVP, but to say Matt Flynn would win 10-12 games with any NFL team after only 3 career starts is laughable. There have been a bunch of backup quarterbacks that have shown flashes but fell on their face when put in a position to be a full time starter.

BTW reading this thread Rodgers is not a big hit with the Canadian crowd. Did he photobomb a Maple Leaf team picture or something?

It's honestly very even to me, to the point where I can't really justify one being MVP over the other. I would be fine with either one of them winning it, but I personally think they should be Co-MVPs.

The award is, and always will be, mularkey. It has nothing to do with who is the most valuable, it has more to do with who put up the best fantasy stats on a top five team.

All three (Tom Brady included) QB's should split the MVP if you want to be fair (each D had statistically awful seasons), and if you looked at each roster on a talent basis, New England gets killed in all aspects of the board so I'd put more value under Tom Brady's shoulders.

That said, Rodgers > Brees. Brees threw 150 times more than Rodgers this year, in a dome, and didn't even get his team a bye.

But, just to show how much more efficient Rodgers was:

Int's would come out to 8.

Would the field magically gain an extra 30-40 yards? Rodgers' yards per pass are higher because he had more long plays that resulted in quicker TD's. If Rodgers had more attempts, odds are he's completing shorter passes to get those attempts.

That said, it's impressive how he was able to get a whole extra yard per pass (plus his extra runs/sacks factor) with such a high % of less passes thrown.

It also can mean he didn't have the ball as much as Brees. I didn't watch any Saints games, but the Packer D was on the field A LOT. That could have something to do with the 155 attempt difference.

I don't think that anyone is trying to say that either quartback is hands-down better deserving than the other (unless it's a homer). They are both amazing but someone's gotta win.

When you split-hairs like this there's always some stat or detail that'll have to make the difference. And like Josh said, Co-MVPs are gay.

Who really cares about the brewers. I'll give you a little lesson about Wisconsin. It's mostly a football state. Yes we do love our Brewers, and we do love our Bucks, but we are madly in love with our Packers. Even the Badgers football team seems to have as good or better following than the Bucks or Brewers. So I say, so what about what the Brewers fans tried to say. Not at all important in a Packer convo.

Bucky I am being honest when I say that I had not even considered that I was talking about the same fanbase. I was just bringing it up to show how strange the MVP criteria is in general and how it varies from sport to sport.

While I do think it was a moronic argument brought forth by Brewers fans, I did not even in my own mind make the connection that I was also bashing Packers fans so no need to take that as my implication. Did not mean to suggest that, just a coincidence.

I don't think team success should factor to an individual award period, so I choose Rodgers over Brees for the same reason I chose Kemp over Braun. I feel that in the chosen season, Rodgers slightly outperformed Brees and thus provided more value. Don't see why we feel the need to throw other contextual factors in there.
