Quick question: Am I the only one who thinks Lawson got jobbed out of the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four award? Ellington played well, but I didn't think he was anywhere close to what Lawson did.

UNC is a great team, but I really wish ESPN would stop making it seem as if this team had all these sure fire top 10 draft picks who decided to return to school to win a championship. Of the 4-5 possible pros on this team Davis potentially is the only high lottery guy, while the rest will be late 1st round to second round picks. I heard Hubert Davis say, "Hansbrough could have went to the NBA after his freshman season...." In theory that is correct, but using that same logic Bobby Fraser could have as well. I understand they need some sort of story to promote to go along with the team, but come on. Just say they're a great team and leave it at that.

^ I loved everything you said, except for Quinton Thomas, haha. I wanted to strangle the guy every time he got into a game. But definitely winning a championship is the number one moment in my book with this team, but a close second was beating Duke on JJ's senior night. As for our players next year, do you see Lawson or Ellington coming back Heel? I feel there's a very slight chance for Ellington, but Lawson will be long gone.

DETROIT -- North Carolina freshman Ed Davis, who scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds in Monday night's 89-72 rout of Michigan State in the NCAA national championship game at Ford Field, said he'll definitely return to school for his sophomore season.

Davis, a 6-foot-10 forward from Richmond, Va., averaged 6.5 points and 6.5 rebounds this season. Some UNC fans feared Davis would do what sixth man Marvin Williams did when the Tar Heels won the 2005 national championship. Williams entered the NBA draft and was the No. 2 overall selection by the Atlanta Hawks.

Davis said he won't even consider testing the NBA draft without signing with an agent.

"I'm definitely coming back," Davis said.

Michigan State coach Tom Izzo was certainly impressed by Davis.

"Davis did a great job," Izzo said. "He's a very good rebounder. He's long. As he gets more physical, I think he's got a chance to be probably their next great, great one."

Good thing Davis didn't pull a Marvin Williams.

Don't worry, other such prestigous universities like Kentucky, Kansas, and dook are still recruiting him as well.

For sure every one of those programs would LOVE to have him, I never saw any Kentucky or Kansas fans saying their "programs were ABOVE players like this".

The biggest loser in the John Wall sweepstakes in Coach Drew from Baylor, this mfer hired Walls AAU coach thinking Wall would follow, lol @ him.

UK point guard Michael Porter will not return to Kentucky next year, choosing to focus on graduate school and life with his wife and child on the way.

Its bittersweet for me, i was admittedly a big critic of his. He would miss wide open layups and wide open threes and then go 10 games stretches where he was scared to shoot. BUT he hustled and played hard and actually seemed to take better care of the ball then Whirlwind Liggins.

Wouldn't surprise me if Kentucky is back in the Nat'l Championship game in as little as 3 years.

Its amazing how college basketball has become more about the coaches rather than the schools. Kentucky more than likely now will perennially have a top 5 recruiting class all thanks to Calipari. The program will become relevant again.

I still think it's about the schools though. I mean Calipari basically left a cake job and guaranteed 30 won games a year at Memphis for Kentucky, because "it's Kentucky". He even said that in the contract negotiations with Kentucky heads as to what he wanted to be paid and why he wanted to coach there.

I can't think of a "great" coach in the NCAA today that wasn't helped along his path to greatness because he was the coach at a great program first. Kansas made Roy Williams, not the other way around. Kentucky made Pitino, Illinois made Self etc. Maybe the two exceptions are Calipari and Coach K to a certain extent with UMass/Memphis and Duke. On the whole though I think if you have a high presitge program and even a decent coach at recruiting you will still pull in very good classes. IMO Gillespie was a fish out of water at UK.
