lol just looking at duke prospects for next year this morning. Their top two coming in...

You guessed it, goofy looking 6-10, 205 white kids who can't rebound, has little post presence and sits on the perimeter all game.

The future looks bright...

Mason Plumlee may be 6'-11" 210, but the kid is every bit as athletic as any player in the country. I wouldn't sleep on him. The kid is really athletic and it helps him be a better rebounder. However, he's a bit raw offensively in the paint. The 2010 class has a guy by the name of Andre Dawkins coming in who is a 6'4 combo guard who can is very athletic and a great shooter. However, due to the style of play and other institutional issues Duke won't get those one and done type of players, but Duke wasn't built based on getting those types of players anyways.

Oh, and for the record a select few of UNC fans are becomg annoying on this site....you know who you are.

It's not that duke isn't getting the 1 and done players. Year in and year out, they're still pulling in the best recruiting classes ranking/All American wise...obviously it's something else...

They pull in All-Americans, but not the types that translate into dominating college basketball. I'm not really sure, but does Duke have some sort of academic situation going on where they can't just recruit anyone due to eligibility issues?

I was hoping that UNC/OU game was going be decent, but it wasn't.....I'm upset about that.

The issue is that today's clssic low post bigmen coming out of highschool don't want to play for a perimeter oriented, full court press and trap coach. Krzyzewski IMO should adjust his offense and player development a bit to pulling some real bigmen in. Its fine to have a perimeter oriented offense and a press and trap defense, but Duke isn't even recruiting the top perimeter players in the country to run that. Yeah, they can finish second in the ACC and make it to the Sweet 16, but that mostly because the ACC is rather weak and based their seeding making it to the Seeet 16 should be a given.

I think they have to play that way though in a lot of ways because even though they recruit some good perimeter guys they can't match up with the rest of the ACC's more athletic teams in the half court. Coack K, to change philosophies would IMO have to do it gradually over the course of a year or so and make sure to change his recruiting practices in the mean time, or change all at once and risk having a sub par season.

Coach Cal is already starting to cleanup the mess at UK. G.J. Vilarino has been released from his LOI. That would be the third PG that has decommitted from Kentucky (KC Ross Miller and Konnor Tucker the other two). He was in Oklahoma last night to make sure Daniel Orton was still on board. There are also reports that Xavier Henry will take a visit to Kentucky.

Man, Coach Cal is checking his list, and marking everyone off he doesn't like...8th grader Michael Avery has decomited (thank God) and Dakotah Euton has also decommited (THANK GOD!).

And...he plans on holding a practice tonight, so there's a good chance some current players are on the chopping block.

Im not disappointed about any of that either.

I fully expect gj to go wherever BCG goes.

Can he really have practice at this point? I thought there were some rules & regs on when coaches can hold practices.

I would think it's a mixture of that and also that the kids he's targeting just might not be that good. I mean we all know recruiting isn't an exact science. UNC has whiffed on guys as well.

But yes, Wojo does coach the big men at dook. Which seems silly to me. Granted you don't have to have played center to coach big men, but I have yet to see a big man really dominate at dook since Brand was there.

Then again that may be what dook wants. They might want wojo there to teach the big men a more perimeter oriented game. Who knows?

lol I'd go to Duke right now and slap Wojo if he wants the likes of Zoubs, Pluumee on the perimeter.

Mason P looks pretty good in the mcdonalds game...looks like he's willing to bang...although Duke still needs a more athletic big man or someone who is able to get 10/10.

Wall needs to come to Duke...period.

Ugh. I want to shoot myself for saying this but Plumlee did look good. But damn did Henson look smooth or what?

After reading up on Wall I don't see how he plays at dook. And that's not even a knock on dook. I found out that Wall had academic and attitude issues. I'm not even sure he could qualify for dook.

Oh and what a hell of a year for MSU to make the final 4. It's not even really fair.

ha Henson is going to be good...he's rail thin though lol...

Kelly looked...err off?...not a good game for him to showcase his skills... meh, I'd rather Plumlee come in and make an impact because he looked real good in that game but it's just an exhibition.

I don't know how Wall would make it at Duke but I'm sure the staff will make sure he'll do what he has to.

UNC is going to be in hostile territory on Monday night.

Michigan State seems like a team on destiny's run while UNC has been the #1 team in the country all year.

Should be a good, fun game.
