It's not really people "in his religion" It's part of his religion. That's why he willingly aligns himself with groups like Focus on the Family etc.


With Tebow using the NFL as a platform to help spread his relgious convictions/beliefs/evengelize(which he admitted in yesterdays press conference) I think it's a valid question.

So you take him at his word on evangelizing, so why not take him at his word on the subject of homosexuality instead of trying to connect any number of dots with "who he aligns himself with"? It's not at all out of the ordinary for people to disagree with parts of their religion, as they usually cover a lot of ground.

I'm not saying he should stop being who he is. I'm saying I'm surprised no one has sat him down and asked him about it on the record.

Again, you're conjecturing on the guy. Doesn't it make more sense to hear what he, himself, has to say on the subject before being against him for it? It seems like you're putting the carriage before the horse here.

I'm not questioning Tebow on the actions of every Christian worldwide, I'd be asking his frame of reference of the Church/sect that Tebow has willingly aligned himself with and is out there activley promoting...and using the NFL to help do it.

I don't know, it's such a slippery slope. There are different parts of different sects whose beliefs differ greatly. It just seems like prejudging (which is what he's being accused of, mainly) to me, but you're open with letting him answer it, so maybe not.

Did athletes really influence you guys that much? To make you question yourself personally if something about them was different from you?

Do you not believe it's possible for others to be influenced in such a manner, or is everyone influenced in the "same manner" which you were as a child? Are you that narrow minded to the possiblity that maybe not everyone is "just like you" ?

Do you realize you're talking about 7-8 year old children and you think it's sad they would question themselves over their heroes beliefs? I think that's pretty high expectation of a child that age, but certainly not old enough to fall for the "children's stories" that suck kids into religion.

Not to mention, kids always don't listen to their parents. Perhaps you did? So all kids who don't must be a bunch of sad fucks because they aren't like you?

Tim Tebow is a young man with an athletic gift that was good enough to get him into the pro's to make a few million..but I do think he is a bit socially awkward for being home schooled, ...but he is very polite...his being a virgin isnt a problem and is no body's business and doesnt change his football skills

My favorite athlete when I was 8 was Hakeem Olajuwon... Never really entered my mind what his religion was.

Again... What do you do about this problem that you seem so concerned with? How does Tebow stop influencing so many young minds?

What am I concerned with? I think it's unfair to parents to potentially have to explain to their kids why being a bigot is wrong, should he be one.

I plan on being a parent in the not so distant future, it's something I think about. I wouldn't want my kid idolizing a bigot, especially one driven by fake zombies in the sky.


He can stop by playing football and using the NFL to talk about the NFL.

Even though I didn't say it in the post, one of the things I was referring to was the bad sportsmanship and showmanship with athletes. That's just one thing.

I only brought it up because I thought it was ironic coming from you. But your answer indicates you could be having a bit of a shift in philosophy about celebrities being role modes, so I'm going to just leave this alone. You answered the question in a reasonable way and I'm not really looking to pick a fight. So I guess I'm done.
