Depends on how your building your guy, for my Royal i started off upgrading stats so i could cast more magic, then upgraded my rapier. For this guy i've just been upgrading stats (since i got demonbrant and it doesn't need to be upgraded :smug

And KG is right, most loot you can find, unless your an archer, then you'll want to make sure u stock up on arrows, or a magician that doesn't have that magic regenerating ring, then you'll wanna buy spice

hmmmm. guess I should start figuring out my character then...

i was watching a stream the other day of someone playing the full japanese version. looks pretty much the same but a lot more in depth with what you can do with the character. the guy playing basically just kept going to the same spot and dying so i didnt get to see much from what i watched but still....

I thought Demon's Souls looks pretty good, but Dark Souls is a good amount better visually. The updated HUD is nice too.

Oh most definitely. That was part of the thing that I found funny. Particularly where he gave Dark Souls the nod in the DLC department because there was no DLC. I get the overall point, but come on. Bethesda has been one of the few companies that has actually made DLC worth while.

demons souls was great, but watching the stream of dark souls i found it to play identically to the original. That means painstakingly frustrating combat. Ok so we already knew that.

calling this a RPG is misleading. i think RPG is being thrown around very loosely these days. This is more of an action fighter game with some character building aspects. There is no story to speak of and no plot driven choices of any kind. it follows the marios bros level scheme with the predictable boss battle at the end.

I agree with most of your post Maynard, except for the fact that RPG is used loosely. Despite what a lot of people on the internet would say, I think that the RPG genre is the most usable. Sure, some people are stuck on the level building, inventory management aspect of it, but consider it stands for Role Playing Game, I think that it could be widely cast across most genres (as it has been of late).

The weirdest thing to me is clinging to "XP". Fuck, even BATMAN clings to that shit. What a completely inane premise.

All of that said, I'll probably check out Dark Souls, but I doubt that I'll finish it because, honestly, I don't long for games to go back to the way they were when I was a kid and it took perfection to see your way through it. I'd rather be entertained.

Curious players have also wondered about how Dark Souls on Xbox 360 will handle Party Chat and Private Chat functionality. Well, the game does not support player-to-player voice chat over Xbox Live. At all. No real surprises there. However, if players engage a Party Chat session, Dark Souls will instantly kick you out of your current game and boot you to the main menu.

"Cannot continue game while you are in party chat. Returning to title screen..." reads on on-screen prompt if in a chat session. It's similar to the way Dark/Demon's Souls handles network connection interruptions for players who take those games online—you're booted to the main menu, with your progress, location and world state saved.

anyone know how the level up system works compared to demons? does u still use souls to buy items and is that the only method of purchasing?
