Shit was the same as it ever was, just with an even more brutal Jennifer Carpenter performance. Good god she's insufferable. I'll stick with it for a few more weeks til NEWSROOM fills the hatewatch void, but this shit is going nowhere fast.

They write in "comedic" lines for Masuka and Angel that fall short 90% of the time. The scene with Angel and the black girl (who I guess is now a main character we're supposed to care about with no exposition) was cringeworthy.

The scene where Dexter cracks his sister's password was a cheap shot at being meta that you wouldn't have seen in seasons 1-4.

Jennifer Carpenter as less compelling than ever, so rather than the bit part she was confined to before she's been injected into every story line we go down now. (Everyone is a fan of the Dexter and Deb love story though, right?)

The further the show gets from the source text, the more and more the plots get thinned. Thus they have to fill time with expanded roles for bit characters who don't merit it or terrible throwaway scenes like last night's intro.

The show has been off tonally since the end of Season 2. And, honestly, Season 1 is in its own world, it could essentially stand alone, its so different from the rest of the series. Seasons 3 and 4 were very much similar...you just had a shit performance by Jimmy Smits and an award winning one by Lithgow and it made all of the difference in the world. I fear a lot of you are forgetting how awful Season 3 was. Just as bad as 5, 6, and 7, maybe worse, but I refuse to revisit (well, surely not worse than the Lumen season).

The show dissolved into Big Baddz and Dexter always being chased by someone. Been that way since Season 2.

The show had me going there for a little while...but all of a sudden, Dexter's kid goes missing and I was like "oh yeah, this fuckin show!"
 
Less Deb screen time please. Latest episode sucked, Dexter needs to stop worrying about Deb and start killing people again.
 
I'm probably the only one that thinks all the HATE...and man do I mean HATE, for Deb just cracks me the hell up.

I absolutely hate her character on Dexter. I wish Dexter would have killed her off in season 1. She's annoying as fuck.
