So the legal arguement is that he protected his own reputation and the reputation of the university by doing nothing more than the absolute minimum loegall required with the information...? Isn't that exactly what he is being criticized for? Are there not times when protecting yourself is not worth allowing more children to get fucking raped on Penn State property?
Its also ignoring a fourth option - which would have pursuing the matter through the avenue already taken. It is possible that Paterno pursued it through his superiors but his comments would indicate otherwise. Had Paterno - the most influential and powerful individual within the Penn State community - pressed those above him to do something about the incident, perhaps they would not have found it as easy to go the route of the cover-up? Yet Paterno wouldn't even enforce the "punishment" that was handed down barring Sandusky from using campus facilities...
