This is an actual weird development though: McQueary no longer on staff, claims to be in protective custody.

This is from deadspin regarding the recruiting story:

A few other sites picked up the report, but the ever-present Ben Jones of Black Shoe Diaries did the legwork to actually confirm its validity. Jones emailed Travis Perry, the athletic director at Greer (S.C.) High School, which Ah Ching attends, and Perry replied to say the story was "false and untrue." (I did the same, just to verify whether it's true that it's false. I've yet to get a response). WYFF4, the South Carolina TV station, has since posted a correction noting that Ah Ching's high school coach could not confirm Sandusky was present at a spring game earlier this year. Ah Ching, meanwhile, "stands by his story that Sandusky was in the stands."

I just found out State College wasn't the only place that was aware these things were going before shit hit the fan last week (or even back in March). Major news organizations were aware of this for at LEAST the past year and a half.

Recruits lie all the time. From what I've read Penn State wasn't even recruiting him. I remember one time a few years back a high school kid managed to get himself ranked as 3 star recruit by NSD simply by feeding a lot of BS to random blogs. It turns out he barely even got playing time on his high school team, much less drawing interest from colleges.

Anderson Cooper's show brought up the fact that in 1998, Beaver Stadium was being renovated with over 10,000 new seats and many luxury boxes added. Could there have been a cover-up at the time so donation money wouldn't stop coming in?


Who knows, but tons of oddball theories and ironically, half of them make more sense every day.

Unless McQueary ends up singing like a canary, more facts to fill in the blanks may not be known until trials start in the coming years.

Texas is looking into potentially adding charges against the bastard stemming from when Sandusky brought one of the victims their for a bowl game.

I sure hope so. As we all know, the state of Texas don't play when it comes to delivering swift justice.

Can't believe they're about to play a football game today.

that is pretty gutsy considering there are going to be 100k+ drunk people in the stands. i still think something is going to happen. not sure what but something will.

and these dumb ass kids......riot the other night, then lighting candles with a minute of silence last night for the victims.

not much integrity there, IMO.

ironically, the ratings of the game will be through the roof....

I don't know what the stands will be like, but the tailgate sections outside the stadium are virtually empty.

Why is lighting candles for those victims dumb? You do realize that not every student at Penn State was at that riot and some can/will show the proper respect?

well, thats what i was eluding to. they will be tarnished for a long time. i mentioned earlier, back a few pages, that the graduating class will have a very tough time finding and landing jobs/careers.

of course, i dont think all of them were at the riot and i am certainly one NOT to blame all for the handful of bad seeds.
but the country is watching this scandal unravel and just doest look promising.

if i were student/teacher, workder there, i would be looking to transfer ASAP before more Truth and Lies become news

Obviously the program is tarnished, but I'm not sure how that will translate to the graduating class or their ability to find work after the fact. As you know many of those kids will find work with alumni who have prestigious positions with big companies throughout the state.

Trust me, I will be watching this game not as much to see how the football team will play, but for how we project ourselves to the rest of the country. I'm hoping for the best, but there's a good chance it could be embarrassing.

Also I highly doubt seniors won't be able to get jobs because they went to PSU. First of all, the grad base for PSU is too huge for employers to be like "He went to PSU, he must have rioted" (a PSU degree is a PSU degree regardless of which of it's like 1 billion branch campuses you get it from), and secondly, it's just a silly notion. Because a riot happened on campus to support Paterno someone isn't going to get hired? A friend of mine helped to flip a car at Maryland when they won the NC, and he said the rioting was insane. Granted there are obvious differences in context, but I highly doubt a job will be lost because a person has a PSU degree (if anyone isn't going to be getting jobs, it's going to be for the old fashion reason -- the shitty economy).

Also reading more and more about Sandusky, I am afraid how awful this guy was. Maybe he was messing with kids around State College? In his own neighborhood? This guy was brazen enough to do it in a major college program's locker room, who knows how far his depravity reaches.

That's the question I have - how far back does this go before the 1998 incident? Decades?

The earliest date I've seen in reports was 1994 or 1995.

You have to imagine he did shit before then though. I mean, he's been there for decades prior.
