Randy was hanging in there, thats all he was doing. Brock was never in trouble at any point and was constantly laying on Randy. He was lucky to make it to the 2nd round..

I realize you guys are quick to discredit him for everything.. but how about you guys try to giving him credit for something too?

Randy was winning that fight until he got caught.

I sure as hell wont put AA, Sylvia in front of him. Barnetts last 2 real challenges were Nog and Cro Cop and he lost both.

Outside of Fedor rest of the HW in UFC or Affliction or anywhere else are all B level. Its not a stretch to put Lesnar there if he beats Mir. I cant fathom a human being watching that Randy fight and thinking he wins a rematch. He looked like a little boy hugging his dad.

I love Overeem but he'd need to pass a drug test before Id consider him. The guy looks roided out to no end.

AA, Barnett and Tim have bigger wins than Randy and Mir, I would put AA and Barnett over Brock easily, Tim also has only lost to great comp, Brock would probably maul him on the ground, but Tim can survive down there for awhile

Overeem has passed a drug test just last year or so in strikeforce, lol @ thinking Overeem is on something and Lesnar, Mir or Randy isnt, all these guys do probably are on something, they just dont get caught, so stop with that, Overeem can pass the same tests they do

I would like to see a Brock/Carwin fight, that would be fun

yeap, dont see where Brock was looking that great, Randy was putting him on the cage and stuffed a couple of brocks TDs, it was an even fight until the bomb was dropped

brock wouldnt have done anything that vera, marcio cruz and ian freeman havent done and mir would just have another win over brock

they dont really jump up the rankings IMO fighting each other, only reason you guys have these fighters high on the list is because they are in the UFC

Ive been hating on Tim Sylvia for ages.. the pressing your opponent against the cage for 5 rounds approach just doesnt work for me. I dont think theres a chance he'd beat Lesnar one-on-one at this point.

I've hated on Sylvia too. But he is a top heavyweight, just because he's a matchup problem for almost anyone.

I still haven't really changed my stance on the way that Lesnar was brought into the UFC and treated immediately being questionable, but he's legitimate. He didn't get lucky against Couture, he did okay and then dropped him. He's a monster athlete who is smart enough to learn quickly, and he's a match up problem for almost anyone. I wouldn't be surprised if he dominates the UFC scene for a long while.

As for where that would put him, Rob, I don't think it can put him in the top couple of spots. Maybe top 5, as Mir's win over Nogueira was impressive (though less impressive if the rumors about Nog being in the hospital right before are true) but he hasn't had a ton of other wins of late.

also, before anyone says it, I'm not putting Overeem high on a list because he hasnt done much, I'm just saying I would favor him over Brock if they ever fought

style wise he is a nightmare match up for brock, K1 level striking, all the tools on his feet and ADCC level grappling, 1 of the best guillotines in MMA and brock would be sticking that ball peen hammer head right into Overeems arms from shooting doubles across the cage

the most astonishing thing about brock isnt his power, its his quickness. never have we seen a near 300 pounder move so quick with so much agility. with only 4 professional fights its tough to say how good he really will be, but he has shown improvement every single fight. its easy to hate on brock, but i for one am a big fan. he brings a lot of excitement and buzz to the sport which is only a good thing. sure he beat the aging couture after long lay off but is he to be scrutinized for it? no, he beat who was put in front of him, and i know a lot of people here picked randy to beat him

For basically being a freak fight show that looks pretty epic

For as crazy freaky athlete Brock is, he will always have cardio issues, he just is to big, to explosive, to hyped to not gas, it takes a lot of gas to move that body around

he was starting to suck wind against randy and randy was just pushing him into the cage and a couple scrambles, nothing to crazy in that fight, randy was on his way to making the big man gas before he caught a canned ham to the side of the head

brock is a beast and very dangerous, but if you can make this guy work and he will gas, the herring fight was not work at all, just riding on top of heath, heaths groud game has always been turtling and trying to scramble

not sure if Mir will make him work enough in his next fight and Mir has questionable cardio anyway, so probably another good match up for brock if he doesnt let Mir pull guard and snare him again

And also, say what you want about the heaveyweight division but what about the fact that there's a lot of discussion/arguing/hype for this fight a couple months in advance? I don't see the same level of discussion about GSP/Alves or any of the fights coming up after Machida/Evans, so at least there's a lot of fan interest here... And if they bring Fedor over, Fedor v. Lesnar will be a massive event.

there is hype because its heavyweights, heavyweights always sell than throw in the fact that brock is an ex WWE star and you will get hype

GSP/Alves, Machida/Evans are way way better fights, but HWs always sell

GSP is the best fighter in the UFC, Alves is very dangerous

Machida and Evans is a legit undefeated fight, but Machida is 'dull' and Rashad cant really hype his fights, but on a technical level these 2 fights blow away Lesnar/Mir, if they even make it to the 2nd round it will look like a tough man contest if they stay on there feet

Brock is a beast, dont think I dont know that, but he has not been impressive and beating Mir is not a big win

Lets look at Mir's last 6 fights since his comeback

Win Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira TKO (Punches)
Win Brock Lesnar Submission (Kneebar)
Win Antoni Hardonk Submission (Kimura)
Loss Brandon Vera TKO (Punches)
Win Dan Christison Decision
Loss Marcio Cruz TKO (Punches and Elbows)

So he has lost to Cruz and Vera who got ran off to LHW and hasnt even done much at LHW

Win over Hardonk and Christison, blah, a win over Brock who was 1-0 and a win over Nog who looked like a shell of himself, to many beatings from Fedor and even Tim, plus Nog might have had a staph infection, who knows if Nog will ever be half of what he was

Mir and Brock are 2 guys who are not top HWs and havent done anything to prove it

If Brock beats Mir, ok, what does that prove? That he can beat the same guys Cruz and Vera beat? and if Mir beats Brock is it that big of a deal? He already beat him in 90 seconds

The UFC champs are weak right now, its only 'big' because its in the UFC

Just look at how both these guys got there title shots, Mir got a title shot after subbing 1-0 Brock and Brock got a title shot after beating Heath, lol, come one

and the funny part is, they thought they were feeding Mir to Brock the first time so Brock could explode on the scene and say 'Brock destroys a former UFC champ!' and than he got kneebarred

so than they cant take a step back, so they give him a guy with no takedown defense in Heath that Jake O'brien decisioned for a win than he gets a title shot against Randy, come on
