The officiating was horrid tonight...the PI early, the missed roughing call, all kinds of garbage. glad the niners walked away with the W. i do have to say that alex smith has looked much much better so far this year. he's making smart reads, making solid decisions at the line and he's looked pretty damned good so far. he does need to be better when it comes to pocket presence, dealing with pressure and knowing when to take a sack so he doesn't lose 0-15 yards every time. I would also like to see some more varied play calling on 3rd and short, don't just line up in the jumbo and run it. try play action from the jumbo, or spread the field and give alex smith the chance to look at the defense and make the decision whether to run it up the middle or throw a quick pass. I think at this point, the niners are deep enough at wr/te to make that kind of play call work.
that being said, hard to complain about being 2-0 to start the season after playing two playoff contenders. nobody's got it better than us.
