Wasn't Doug Free's nickname in college, "The Freak" or something similiar? If he's a "Freak" like his nickname indicates, and Columbo is meaner ... woah by golly jebus!!

Seriously speaking though, I do not like Columbo's pass protection nor is Free's pass protection that much better. I'd hate to hurry Columbo back if he's not fully healthy and if his return sparks return to the clusterfuck.

Doug "Freak" was the nickname.

He was called that because his speed, agility and footwork were frreakish for an offensive lineman. He was sufficiently strong, but obviously left some to be desired. That's why he was available in the 4th round. He is a Left Tackle prototype, not a Right Tackle, which requires being stronger and more of a mauler, which is exactly what Columbo is.

Joe Jurasek is one of the better strength coaches out there and he has done a good job with him, but Columbo is the best RT on the team. Free should be starting at LT within the next year.

Cowboys fan here, but I'm not a retarded homer, so I usually don't fit in.

I take exception to that.

Anyway, just received an interesting bit of news. Robert Brewster (OL we drafted from Ball State last year who tore his pectoral in training camp) is going to be labelled as a RT this year.

What that means is that Doug Free is for now, at the very least, the backup at LT and being looked toward becoming the future starter. I know it probably looked that way anyway, but this is confirmation that he will stay on the left side.

But more importantly, it means we're not going to be taking a tackle early in the draft. If we draft any OL in 1, it would be Mike Iupati (if he falls or is within reasonable trading range) or Maurkice Pouncey.

What I'm thinking is more likely is that we trade down again. It's a good year to have many picks.

Granted, my pet cat this year was Earl Thomas, but I'm coming to grips with the fact that he will be long gone by the time we're on the clock.

Give me Iupati/Pouncey in 1, Nate Allen in 2, speed slot/return man in 3, and I'm a very happy man.

I've changed my tune since May. I think at this point, it'd be a mistake to let him go. Ogletree has looked as bad this preseason as he did good last preseason.

I'm not sure Dez is 100% just yet and I'm not sure Romo is ever going to fully trust Roy Williams. What have you got behind those guys? Crayton's mouth has infuriated me over the last few years, but he's been a pretty solid slot receiver and is a guy Romo looks to when he's in a jam - See the Atlanta game. It would suck to lose that if Dez is not ready.

I'd rather lose Roy and make Dez the #2 if I had a choice. And I think if Roy's money weren't guaranteed, that would be the case. If Crayton were willing to put up with this for just one year, you can cut Roy next year and have that scenario.

Also, there's not much you could get for him in a trade, and I'd hate to lose him for nothing.
