The AP is now reporting that Paterno has announced his intent to retire at the end of the season. I think he was going to anyway but with all of this scandal blowing up around him he needed to make this announcement to try and take some of the momentum from the push to have him resign immediately.

He shouldn't be allowed to coach another game. For the University's sake the best thing to do would be to remove all involved....each and every game and media session is going to become a zoo. He should just step down now.

As a kid growing up, I was like oh yeah Joe Pa and Penn State are awesome. Then I grew up, kept reading about articles on how his players get away with murder because Joe Pa is making sure they don't do it again. Anything from sexual assault, to robbing stores, committing fraud blah blah blah. And now a staff member does this!?!? And this guy is still getting support!?!?

I haven't read this thread, and I don't know who is supporting this moron on the forums, but I have someone very close to me raped years ago and they haven't been the same since. 20 years now and that person will never go back to the the way they were before, and I love that person so much and can't do anything to change their life. One asshole ruined the person's life, an asshole like Sandusky.

It's interesting to see all these idiots in Happy Valley and around the country showing support for Paterno, whereas these same fools will want to have someone like Michael Vick quartered for killing dogs. Enabling sexual assault is as much of a crime as committing it.

Fuck Paterno and I hope Sandusky gets put in a fed prison with the worst criminals and have them have their way with him and then he goes to hell and get it every second of eternity.

Its unfortunate that two (Paterno/Tressel) of the more respected and what most considered to be ethical coaches in college football have gone down this year due to scandal. It just goes to show that a lifetime of good work can go up in flames based on one bad decision.

This is a moral crime. This is a crime against a person's humanity, there's more to this than just following school rules and washing your hands. You better be calling the cops yourself.

I have read the indictment, there's plenty of information out there now to see how many dropped the ball. There are not excuses here.

I even blame that fucktard of a grad assistant who reported, he see's it happen and only tells Paterno?!?!? These people cared so much more about their fucking football team, they don't give a shit about a kid being raped more than just reporting it to their boss.

I won't relax about this, I can't for reasons I have stated already.

Incredible how this instutional behavior consumed Penn State for a decade. So many people either witnessed the crimes or were told about them and nobody, not a single person (after 2002), went outside PSU to contact authorities.

It went from McQueary to Paterno to the AD & Campus Police head to the president of the university. They all passed the buck and refused to sully PSU's name by going public.

Sandusky wasn't employed by the university when the allegations came out in 2002.

If he was really a man of high morals he wouldn't have allowed a man that he "fired" maintain an office in the football facility, have full access to the facilites, run football camps under the guise of Penn State Football and hang out in the weight room.

So even Joe Pa thinks says in a mini presser without even going into detail that he wishes he did more, which implies he obviously could've done more. Even Joe Pa agrees with most of us here, lol. So many fuckers royally dropped the ball here.

Lol @ even being allowed to play rhe season out tho.. I know theres a lot of respect for Paterno and wanting him to "go out the right way" instead of the middle of the season, but thats just laughable.

He should of done more, I don't think anyone is disputing that. What everyone is arguing about is Joe's blame vs the othe administrators.

Everyone is assuming Paterno was privy to every single accusation laid out in the 23 page report. Fact is, he was only associated with one. We don't know what he knew.

I want the man to explain himself.
