Redskins Acquire 2nd pick in 2012 NFL Draft

Griffin will be good. He is worth the amount given up for him.

The question is how fast and efficiently the Redskins will be able to continue to rebuild and grow while Griffin develops without those next two first and second round picks.

If they strike out in one or two drafts even, it is going to set them back a little bit. The team is not that young. They just need to make sure that they draft well the next couple of years or they will go nowhere with Griffin for the next 3 years.

It's not easy to draft well without first round picks. I know teams can still do it, but the Redskins have never been a great team at drafting.

Or, knowing Snyder, they will just continue to turn to overpay on FA's and get nowhere.

The Panthers went 7-9 with Cam Newton, who put up stellar numbers and showed a ton of potential, but he and the team have a lot to improve one.

Andy Dalton played really well and the Bengals made the playoffs but their team is better than the Skins, younger, and they have their picks.

There is no way Griffin is going to do as well as Newton did and the Redskins aren't as good of a team as the Panthers all around. And they lose out on picks for the next 2 years so how significantly do you see them being able to improve?

Griffin will get better, but will he be the type of QB that can single handedly take a team to the playoffs in 2-3 seasons?

It's just not the ideal situation for Griffin, losing out on those 2 first round picks is going to hurt him unless the Skins strike gold on other picks.

I don't see Griffin becoming Leaf because Griffin is a high-quality human being who will work his ass off to make the Redskins look good.
This is an educated, dedicated man who has never failed.
Does that mean he will be a franchise NFL QB? Not sure. But I am sure he won't be Ryan Leaf.

I agree with you here. The two aren't even comparable regarding character issues. Griffin is a very intelligent, high character guy. Leaf was incredibly immature and a huge prick.

And Dan Snyder needs a little more patience in the chatbox before he pulls the trigger on this shit. Dude could've gotten that pick, Steven Jackson, and the high potential Robert Quinn.

Leaf was a complete tool at Wazzu, too. Regardless, he has really turned his life around recently, after quitting his addiction. Not going to judge him as a whole just based on his NFL stint, but the dude set himself up to fail from the get go.

I remember someone saying that the Rams openly saying they'd trade #2 would lessen their bargaining position. Not so much. But even I didn't expect this sort of haul. I had it as two 1sts/two 2nds or two 1sts/a 2nd/a 3rd. Snyder out-does himself again. It makes sense for the Rams, and you could see what the Skins were going for. Not the worst move ever, but a definite huge over-pay.

If anything, the Rams could have held out for more, and used the Browns to drive up the price. The Rams were under no pressure here, they could have waited until 5 minutes before the pick to do something. So why would they give up two of their best players, on a team that has abut a half dozen players worth a shit to begin with?

They are both black, which makes it interesting... they aren't that similar of players, but everybody makes the comparison.

I was looking for the post I made, was a pretty obvious call but months ago I said that due to Cam having a good rookie season and the perception that a spread/black QB could succeed as well as Griffin's game against Oklahoma and scouting combine performance that he would fly up draft boards. I did predict him to overthrow Luck tho, which I was wrong about. If Matt Barkley came out nobody would be having this discussion tho... would Griffin be the #2 pick? Most likely not.
