Actually, I have never complained about the "pussification" of football, because I understand common sense, don't like to see people maimed, and totally get where the league is coming from 90% of the time.

There is a such thing as cheap "legal" hits. Just because it's legal does not make it clean. There is no reason to blast a guy who is 50 yards away from a play.

While your coaches were teaching you how to KILL AND MURDER the opponents, mine were teaching me about respect and sportsmanship.

The attitude that I played with went both ways. In junior college, against CCSF (the number 1 JC in the country at the time), we played a group of very excitable coloreds that did not have very nice things to say to us or do to us. They literally tore us apart, injuring several of us, and then telling us that they were going to do home invasions on us later that night after the game.

This is how it went every game. That's the sport man. It has nothing to do with respect or sportsmanship. After the game you shake hands, you don't mean to injure anyone, but you do want to make sure the opponent fears you and does not ever want to play you again.

I wouldn't want any of the Packer coaches to pay players to hit hard. But if the players put together a pool, who cares. As long as the hits are clean, who cares. Any dirty hits should be handled by the officials and the league.

As far as another coaching staff paying players for good, clean, hard hits, I don't really care, as long as the hits are good and clean. If it breaks rules, then the NFL should hand out fines, suspensions, etc. I agree, if it's against the rules, the NFL should act.

But who cares what legal incentives are used to encourage good, clean, hard hits.

I honestly think some of you would shit your pants and start crying if you heard some of the shit that is said on an NFL football field.

These guys are out to hurt one another. This is nothing new. Just because a "bounty" has been put up doesn't change anything, these guys are fucking animals and they got to this level because of that.

LOL you are totally right. I was totally mental on the football field. But god damn was it fun and if I was still playing today I'd be playing the exact same way.

There's a difference between injuring someone and hurting someone. Every time I hit somebody I tried to hurt them. I wanted them to feel pain.

I was a Bob Sanders type of player. Small but overly aggressive and I got hurt a lot because of how reckless I was. I just believe that's the way the game should be played and you don't go easy on anybody just because they are a QB. I think that's asinine to be honest.

That article was from today.........now I lost some respect for Gibbs. He was either complacent and didn't care or he was like Steve Spurrier and got lost in running the offense. Though this could be why Dan Snyder interviewed Williams four times and he never got the job.

Players get incentives already to play hard...it's called their salary. Getting (apparently) team supported bonuses for hard hits also has salary cap ramifications, which the league always loves.

Because that is what was happening here. Williams was not paying these guys to lay "good, clean hits" on the opponent. That didn't earn you cash. Injuring somebody earned you cash.

I didn't say injure. I said hurt. There is a huge difference.

If I hit somebody as hard as I can and they happen to get injured because I dislocate their shoulder, that really isn't my fault.

If I take out somebody's legs from behind them, like a chop block, then that is dirty and cheap and definitely illegal and all of my fault.
